What is Ethical Mining?
For Wisteria & Willow, in order to be considered ethically sourced, stones and crystals must come from mines which provide safe working conditions and fair wages for their workers and do not use child labor. To limit environmental impact, they do not use industrial mining practices. They also give back to the mining community and work with small family mines and lapidaries. Ethically mined stones and crystals are also conflict-free, meaning they have not been mined in an area of armed conflict and traded illicitly to finance the fighting.
It is not very easy to verify a stone or crystal as ethically mined, so we have decided to work with only a select few suppliers who are able to verify their sourcing. Our selection may not be as extensive as other locations, but, to the best of our knowledge, no harm came to any person, community or the environment in the sourcing of our stones.
